If you want to do your own thing and have the freedom to explore lombok at your own pace, there are a number of options you can consider, from driving yourself or getting a car and driver on an hourly or daily basis and to plan your route as you go. The roads of Lombok are generally very good with only light traffic in areas outside the cities of Ampenan and Mataram.

Car and Motor bike Hire

Self drive cars and motorbikes can be hired from one day to as long as you like but you’ll need an International Drivers License before you go. While additional Insurance can be purchased in Lombok, the coverage is very basic. It is recommended you ensure your travel insurance policy does cover you for self driver car hire before you travel.
